Why are we using Discord at MañanaCon?
Discord brings a lot of goodness to MañanaCon
- Communicate directly with other attendees
- Arrange game sessions and discuss other topics in advance of the convention
- Talk to Flea Market vendors so you don’t have to track down the person when you want to buy a game
- Less waiting on con staff to address your questions
Note that we are no longer using Discord for Game signups. That is now going through Cardboard Connect.
Getting started with Discord
First things first: You need to join the MañanaCon discord.
There are a few channels in the Discord that are open to anyone in the MañanaCon community, but we also have private channels for each convention year.
To get access to 2026 channels:
Change your server nickname to match the full badge name you registered under. (Click on the name of the server and go to “Edit per-server profile” and update your server nickname.)
Then, leave a ✅ emoji on this post so we know to add the 2026 attendee role to your profile. This process involves a human and may take 24-36 hours.
Once you’ve been added to the 2026 attendee role, you’ll be able to see some new channels:
Frequently Asked Questions
What is my “full badge name”?
It’s the name you gave us when you signed up for the convention: your first and last name, in most cases. It does not need to match the name on the card you paid with. Please reach out to us if you’re confused or concerned about which name to use.
I don’t want to pay for Nitro. Can I still use the MañanaCon Discord?
You don’t have to pay for Nitro! Discord makes this confusing, but if you go to your settings, then click “Edit per-server profile”, you should be able to change your name.
We don’t want to make anybody pay for Nitro, and we don’t want to impact your other servers.
What about people who don’t want to use Discord?
We hope you’ll give it a chance! That said, if you don’t want to use Discord, you can wait until the convention and find people the good old fashioned way. We’ll have looking for players signs, and you can always find the GM in person to chat.
